Should You Run From Jesus Always?

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I [Jesus] am with you always, even to the end of the age.

These are the famous verses known as the great commission in which Jesus tells all of His followers (Christians) to:

Go -- don't just sit there on the couch watching TV... GO! Get up and go. And what are you supposed to do?

Make disciples -- a disciple is a follower of Jesus, and only true Christians are followers of Jesus. So, to make disciples what do people need to know? They need to know about Jesus. They need you to tell them about what Jesus has done for you. They need to know the Gospel.

Here is a short video showing someone sharing the gospel in less than four minutes:

And what are you to do with new discplies? Baptize them in the name of the Father and theSon and the Holy Spirit. And then what?

Teach them! And what are you to teach them? Teach them about everything God has commanded us, and teach them to obey those commands. To disobey God is called sin. Our desires should be the same as God's desires, and that means our desire is to eliminate sin from our lives.

Whew! This is a lot of responsibility. How can we do this... and do it well? By relying on the Lord's power rather than our own ability. He promises to be with us always, even until the end of the age. What does that mean? The end of the age is when the Lord returns, so that means Jesus will be with us until He bodily returns to judge the world and rule His earthly kingdom. You can have confidence, because your Lord Jesus Christ will be with you always.
